About Us

Our Location

10 minutes from M4 J16, in beautiful Wiltshire countryside. we’re only an hour from London on the train and a 45 minute drive from Bath & Bristol.

Royal Wootton Bassett is a small market town, with a population of 11,385 in 2011. Situated in the north of the county, it lies 6 miles to the west of Swindon.  The town has always been a market town, and is associated with many farming and agricultural trades.

The secondary school, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, has recently been awarded outstanding in every category during the latest Ofsted inspection for a second inspection running.

Dauntsey’s a co-educational independent school, is situated 24 miles away, just south of Devizes.  Good Schools Guide recommended, it takes boarding and day pupils aged 11-18

Over the years, the High Street has remained largely unchanged as these old photographs show

Our Community

Wootton Bassett has become known for the informal tributes it paid during military repatriation funeral processions which passed through the town.  On 16 March 2011, the Prime Minister announced that “Her Majesty has agreed to confer the title ‘Royal’ upon the town, as an enduring symbol of the nation’s admiration and gratitude”.

In 2011, the community of Royal Wootton Bassett themselves made a less
sombre tribute as they came together over 5 months to re-record the classic Green Day track, “Wake Me Up When September Ends” from their American Idiot album, in aid of military charities.

The project was called Wootton Bassett Rocks and its aim was to raise £1million for charity.

Just two clues to the close knit, friendly and active nature of this community

Our Practice

Tinkers Lane is well-established, with a loyal and growing list of 8,400 patients.  The practice is an interesting mix of market town and rural villages & farms.   Our premises were purpose built and in 2003 a major extension and refurbishment project was undertaken, giving us the spacious modern environment we have today.

We are pleased to announce that we have been a GP Training Practice since 2018.

Our People

We are a friendly, happy team, willing to share both workload and reward.

Our fantastic triage team is highly regarded by our patients.  They take care of most emergencies of the day and minor illness.  An excellent team of nurses and HCAs takes care of chronic disease.

Our admin team is supportive, stable and dedicated.

Effective communication between these and the GP team, generates a cooperative working environment.
